⛰️ Almost Heaven, West Virginia: WVU's $156M Premium (and Fundraising) Play

Premium upgrades are coming to Morgantown in 2028.
West Virginia University announced Monday further details surrounding its plans to construct a new $156 million premium seating tower and press box addition at Milan Puskar Stadium.
The multi-floor build, slated to finish in 2028, will be led by SLAM Architects and Legends Global. It feature three levels of Founders Suites, 16 additional luxury suites, and a premium lounge. The fourth floor will cap the project with new space for media and gameday operations. Crews are currently set to break ground in December.
West Virginia University Athletic Director Wren Baker noted that the move will help modernize the football facility and bridge competitive financial gaps with its rivals:
“Our fans have us know in a big way that they want more premium options, and this project provides a future revenue stream that others have but we lacked. Not only will it be a fantastic update for the stadium but it also narrows the gap in premium seating between us and our competition.”
Wren also noted the aggressive project timeline, stating the strength of the athletics department depends it. Trend Watch™: More money, sooner, for college programs.
West Virginia fans hungry for premium upgrades have put their money where their mouths are, as eight of the nine Founders Suites and six of the 16 additional suites have already been sold. The Founders Level is reserved for donors who commit $5+ million.
Along with project updates, the university also launched a new website with artist renderings and details of the build. On it, comes this interesting nugget about the suite sales process which will be heavily influenced by meeting a qualifying commitment:
Selection times will be assigned based on total MAC (Mountaineer Athletic Club) priority points rank. The selection process also provides an opportunity to make an impact on WVU Athletics while potentially improving your selection position. All new gifts will accrue priority points based on the dollar amount as of February 15, 2028.
Our Take: The story here is the sales strategy and what it says about schools finding ways to find every last dollar as West Virginia is using its new premium inventory as a fundraising engine.
The priority points rank model essentially boils down to: the more a prospective premium buyer commits, the stronger their position becomes in procuring a scarce (and desirable) asset. That dynamic turns affluent supporters into competitors amongst one another, and, in turn, into more aggressive donors.
Said differently, WVU leverages a scarce (and desirable product) to create an urgency that deepens its relationships with fans and alumni who can materially-alter the department’s financial outlook.
🏟️ Speaking of Legends Global…

It’s been a busy week for the hospitality management company with the WVU announcement and expanding their premium F&B and merchandise offerings at SoFi Stadium.
But the biggest news is what they’re offering in the UK. Legends launched Access All Arenas (AAA) announcing it as a first of its kind platform unifying premium hospitality access across the biggest arenas in the UK. Businesses will have flexible access with memberships starting in the low five-figures.
Access includes:
10 UK venues
35 premium hospitality spaces
1,000+ live events every year for sports, music, comedy, and more
Account manager to manage bookings from start to finish
Premium F&B, dedicated entrances, hosted service, and VIP lounges
LG’s SVP Operations UK, Gary Simpson, had this to say:
"One of the biggest barriers to great corporate hospitality has always been locking a budget to a single venue or a single night. Access All Arenas changes that. One fund unlocks ten of the UK's most iconic arenas, 35 premium hospitality spaces and over a thousand world-class events a year through the Legends Global network. It's built for companies that entertain across regions, reward distributed teams, and need their hospitality to flex with the way they actually work."
The company says the platform is designed to incentivize companies to entertain clients, reward employees, networking and more. They’ll also offer flexible payment options that include annual payments, installments and multi-year partnership incentives.
Our Take: Corporate hospitality’s biggest weakness: unused inventory.
This is officially a TrendWatch™ as we should see other venue management companies and operators like On Location explore this. Deposit your hospitality budget in a fund and now multinational corps can annually spend it how they want. Your office in NY can take a client to watch the NBA Champion Knicks from a suite while the office in LA rewards employees with premium seats at SoFi for Monday Night Football. The dedicated booking concierge could be the most important unlock. It’s a headache to purchase different hospitality from different venues using different vendors. In a world where AI increasingly eliminates mundane tasks, white glove concierge service like this is going to become as important to hospitality as the proximity to the players and how your wagyu steak is cooked.
Think of it like a subscription service for tickets. Brilliant.
On the other hand, how will LG balance inventory to sought after events? The FAQ section says tickets are not guaranteed. Worth watching.
🐯 Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium Closes Premium Gap in SEC

Elsewhere in major-college-builds-new-premium-spaces news, work is underway on Auburn’s $323 million, 300,000-square-foot redevelopment at the north end of Jordan-Hare Stadium that is set to open in spring 2029.
The project spans seven stories (Seven stories? It just means more in the SEC!) and figures to add dramatically to the overall gameday experience by adding five new entry points, 66 concession points of slate, 13 elevators and 270 restroom fixtures. It also addresses Auburn’s urgent need to upgrade its premium inventory.
Waitlists and interest lists exceed 5,000 fans
Premium inventory accounts for only 5.7% of seating, ranking 15th out of 16 SEC football stadiums
Expansion will increase premium offerings to approx. 10% of total capacity
With over 3,330 premium seats and experiences added across a wide range of spaces, including the 350-seat 1892 Club, 204-seat Heisman Founder’s Club, and a 25,000 square-foot-rooftop terrace, Auburn will move in-line with SEC stadium premium inventory averages.
The renovation creates expected tiers of premium products spanning access-only clubs, to luxury seats and rooftop clubs. As we’ve seen with similar football-driven projects, Auburn envisions these spaces transforming into meeting, dining and event halls, giving a more meaningful and consistent use for the space.
🚗 Motor City Hospitality News + Notes
COSM Detroit opened as the NFL season kicked off Wednesday. The 70,000-square-foot venue is already showing premium demand. Tickets for the Lions vs. Jets game in two weeks to sit in the 87-foot-diameter LED dome are more expensive than a seat at the actual game.
The Detroit Lions debut the 1934 Club, a former office space now becomes an all-inclusive pregame lounge any fan can enjoy no matter where their seat is. Fans can purchase tickets for the entire season which includes rotating chef-curated menus and unlimited beer, wine, premium spirits, and NA beverages.
Unrivaled Basketball announced a stop at Little Caesars Arena. The premium inventory in January will be managed by 313 Presents when the women’s basketball tour is in town.
